Vietnam in Prehistoric Times, (c. 500,000 – 400,000 to 4,000 BP.)

This section displays fossils and other materials relating to the earliest appearance of human beings in Vietnam. Included are cultural artifacts reflecting human activities from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic periods, ranging from mountains, valleys and plains to the country’s coastal areas and islands. It also highlights cultural exchanges between Vietnam and surrounding regions as the context for Vietnam’s evolutionary development in the initial phase of Vietnamese nation-building and the achievement of fully emergent Vietnamese identity.
