Vietnam National Museum of History

The Dong Son Culture was discovered in 1924 in the riverbank of the Ma River, Dong Son commune, Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa province. It is one of the famous civilizations of the Southeast Asia region, represented in the unique collection of artefacts such as agricultural tools, domestic utensils, arms, and musical instruments. The metallurgy and bronze casting techniques of the Dong Son culture reached a very high level of sophistication; the famous bronze drums show the accumulated scientific knowledge of that time as well as showing the talent and soul of the ancient Viet people.
