While the Dong Son culture was found in the North, Sa Huynh archaeological sites were discovered along the central to the southern central region, from Quang Binh province to Dong Nai province, including Ly Son, Con Dao and Tho Chu islands. The most characteristic element of the Sa Huynh culture is the coffins discovered in the sand dunes that contained offerings. The Sa Huynh people were skilled in metallurgy, making jewelry and pottery. Double-headed animal earrings and triple knob earrings made of stone and glass were not only favorite jewelry of the Sa Huynh people but also exchange goods to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.
