Bảo tàng lịch sử Quốc gia

Vietnam National Museum of History

In 111, the Han Chinese started invading Nam Viet. The Trieu dynasty collapsed and the country was under the domination of Chinese feudal dynasties. The dominating policy throughout this period was cultural assimilation. However, the presence of collections of artefacts of the Dong Son culture, such as bronze drums, pottery and bronze bells are manifestations of a strong vitality of Viet culture, as well as the adoption of the world culture to develop the national culture. In addition, to the work of defending the country, fighting against the foreign invaders to protect the country’s independence isalso illustrated in documents and artefacts representing such insurrections as that of the Two Ladies Trung, Lady Trieu, Li Bi, Mai Thuc Loan, Phung Hung, and so on. In 938, the glorious victory in the Bach Dang River by Ngo Quyen put an end to the thousand-year Chinese domination and opened a new long epoch of national independence and sovereignty.
