The Vietnamese people's epic nine-year resistance struggle against French colonial forces ended with the historic victory at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu on 7 May 1954. The Dien Bien Phu victory is a glorious landmark in the 20th-century history of Vietnam, a supreme testament to the power of national solidarity in the war to defend the fatherland of the people of Vietnam.
